GTI celebrates growth and gears towards 2025

The travel PR and marketing agency prepares for continued success with fresh talent and an expanded client portfolio.

Leading tourism marketing and PR agency GTI is ending 2024 on a high note and gearing up for an impactful 2025. With new business wins and key hires, the agency is set to strengthen its portfolio and expertise.

GTI has welcomed LATAM Airlines back to its roster following a competitive pitch process. LATAM, the largest airline network in South America, previously partnered with GTI until 2021. With the return of direct flights between Sydney and Santiago and an increased frequency of flights from Melbourne, GTI will support LATAM with PR and consumer marketing services to encourage Australians to explore the vibrant landscapes of South America.

The agency is also celebrating the renewed contracts with Santa Monica Travel and Tourism and the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp (NCVC). Both clients, which joined GTI’s portfolio in 2023, have extended their partnerships to include comprehensive sales, marketing, and PR services across Australia and New Zealand. These renewals underscore GTI’s proven ability to promote these popular U.S. destinations and connect Aussies and Kiwis with their unique experiences.

Strengthening the PR Team

In preparation for a strong 2025, GTI has expanded its team with new talent. Thalia Aconley-Jones joins as Group Account Director, bringing significant tourism PR experience from her previous role at History Will Be Kind. Analisse Mammone steps into the role of Senior Account Manager, leveraging her luxury branding expertise from LVMH Luxury Group.

GTI Founder and Managing Director, Sarah Anderson, expressed her enthusiasm for the agency’s growth and new partnerships.
“2024 has been an incredibly successful year for much of the tourism industry. We are seeing air capacity return to pre-pandemic levels, and Australians have more choice than ever before when it comes to holiday destinations. Our clients are turning to us to ensure they build awareness and preference in the Australian and New Zealand markets and deliver campaigns that drive bookings.

“It’s been an exciting year with airlines launching new flight routes for a number of our destinations, including Vanuatu, Texas, South America, and Palau. Off the back of these, we’ve launched consumer campaigns across outdoor, radio, broadcast, digital, print, and earned channels. We’re proud to have delivered results that drive real economic and social benefits to our clients’ destinations and businesses.

“With these key hires joining our PR team, we have bolstered our luxury and activation expertise, so expect to see some great work in 2025.”

Experience Abu Dhabi has enlisted Hollywood stars Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky to spotlight the UAE capital’s blend of rich culture, adventure, and serene getaways. The couple has embarked on a two-year partnership with the tourism board, marked by the launch of an engaging campaign film that blends humour and action.

In the film, Hemsworth and Pataky are seen dreaming about an escape from their hectic schedules, imagining an idyllic holiday filled with the unique experiences Abu Dhabi offers.

A Destination for Every Traveller

Speaking about the partnership, Elsa Pataky highlighted the city’s appeal for family holidays.

Chris Hemsworth echoed similar sentiments, emphasising the family memories created during their stay.

“Abu Dhabi’s got everything we love all in one place. The adventures have left us with amazing memories that will last a lifetime—you can tell how special it was since the kids didn’t want to leave,” Hemsworth said. He commended the city for its cultural richness and welcoming atmosphere, adding that despite their global travels, Abu Dhabi had won their hearts.

Capturing the Spirit of Adventure and Relaxation

The campaign’s tagline, “Could Use A Vacation Right Now,” resonates with many who seek a break from daily pressures. The film showcases how Abu Dhabi caters to every traveller’s ideal holiday, offering a mix of invigorating experiences and peaceful relaxation. Activities range from kayaking around the architectural marvel of the Louvre Abu Dhabi and surfing at Surf Abu Dhabi to enjoying sunset strolls on pristine beaches.

Sustainable practices at the forefront for Club Med

Club Med has unveiled its first-ever Meetings and Events Sustainability Report, a comprehensive resource designed to support companies in embedding sustainable practices into their events.

With sustainable initiatives taking centre stage in its business strategy, Club Med’s report provides crucial data, trends, and expert advice to guide stakeholders across the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE) industry towards more sustainable event solutions.

Industry Survey Highlights Demand for Sustainable Events

As Club Med’s MICE sector sees accelerated growth, the company conducted a survey involving 200 key opinion leaders from diverse industries. This survey aimed to capture the shift in attitudes towards sustainability in event planning, identifying both the driving motivations and the challenges that stakeholders face in adopting sustainable practices. The report aggregates these findings to present an actionable guide that supports businesses committed to reducing their environmental impact.

Key Insights from the Sustainability Report

The Club Med Meetings and Events Sustainability Report reveals several significant insights from its survey, which include:

  • High Priority on Sustainability: An overwhelming 90 per cent of respondents noted that implementing sustainable initiatives is important when planning events.
  • Top Sustainable Actions: Minimising food waste and reducing single-use plastics emerged as top priorities, with 65 per cent of respondents actively opting for these measures.
  • Alignment with Corporate Values: For 33 per cent of those surveyed, aligning events with corporate values and missions was the primary motivation for implementing sustainable practices.
  • CSR Policy Gaps: More than 35 per cent of companies reported that they lack a clear Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy to follow in event planning, while 15 per cent were uncertain if a CSR policy existed in their organisation.

Meeting Industry Demand for Sustainable MICE Solutions

Michelle Davies, General Manager for Club Med Pacific, emphasised that the release of the sustainability report responds to the growing demand for sustainable solutions across the MICE sector.

“The MICE industry is thriving, and with our business volume in this area surging by 30% since 2019, we’re thrilled to launch the Club Med Meetings and Events Sustainability Report,” Davies stated. “Sustainability has been at the heart of the Club Med ethos for nearly 75 years, and we continue to empower local communities and minimise our environmental impact. As the industry evolves, we want to be alongside our clients, supporting them with valuable insights every step of the way.”

Davies highlighted a rising interest in “give-back” sessions—activities that allow participants to contribute positively to communities or the environment—as one of the evolving trends within MICE events.

Tailored Eco-Conscious Experiences for Corporate Events

Julie Voultepsis, Head of Meetings and Events for Club Med Pacific, reinforced Club Med’s dedication to sustainable practices, stating, “At Club Med, we are experts in delivering tailored corporate events that are both eco-conscious and socially responsible.
