The catastrophe of fires in the Amazon rainforest has prompted World Expeditions to launch the Amazon Forest Appeal to help protect the forest, its human indigenous communities and its wildlife.
the Amazon rainforest is experiencing the most intense blazes for almost a decade, with thousands of fires ravaging the forest in Brazil and also across the border in Bolivia, devastating much of the country’s tropical forest and savannah. Many international leaders say the huge number of fires in Amazon rainforest is an international crisis.
The Appeal will be administered through World Expeditions Foundation (WEF), the company’s not-for-profit, philanthropic arm, with 100% of donations to be directed to Earth Alliance, an environmental foundation created by climate change crusader, Leonardo DiCaprio and his philanthropic friends.
The Amazon is the largest rainforest in the world, and is a vital carbon store that slows down the pace of global warming. Home to about three million species of plants and animals, and one million indigenous people,
