TravelManagers Business Partnership Manager, Kylie Wilson, praises the announcement of TravelManagers Customer Fund (TCF) which is the final component in the company’s Peace of Mind promise which helps shield clients in the unlikely event of supplier collapse.
Find out what else she had to say in this week’s Talking Travel.
What does your job involve?
Relationship building, recruitment, coaching and development, supplier engagement and event planning.
How have you tackled the difficulties caused by COVID-19?
Retraining, working in a different industry, establishing a new business, developing skills which enable me to thrive in this position and setting goals for the future. Exercise. Breathe – tomorrow is another day!
What do you enjoy most about your profession?
To never take it for granted. We are so lucky to work in an industry that is directly related to our favourite pastime. The opportunity to connect with like-minded, motivated, and inspiring people who love what they do and support them in growing their personal brand, access opportunities and challenge themselves.
What are the biggest challenges for you in your profession (outside of COVID-19)?
Consumers understanding the value of travel professionals. I believe this is shifting in this changed travel environment which puts TravelManagers in an even stronger position.
What do you think are the biggest challenges the industry faces?
Reassessing ways to transact business as commission drops. Develop confidence in charging for time and professionalism. Looking for opportunities across different sectors within the industry. Harness strength and build value. In the short term, rebuilding our industry with the knowledge and expertise that many lost during the pandemic.
What do you think will be the biggest game changer in the travel industry in the next 12 months?
Consumers returning to travel professionals, valuing their expertise, and trusting in them for protection and accepting their conditions because as we all know “anything can happen”
What destination/travel trend do you think is the next big thing?
The world is open for business, and everybody wants to get away. Wherever the budget takes them. Cruising is always high on the agenda for its value and ability to unpack once.
What are your thoughts on responsible travel and how do you try to implement this in your workplace?
Our personal travel managers support so many Australian and overseas businesses and have a strong philosophy to supporting local businesses as they themselves are a small business. We encourage our customers to buy local and in doing so avoid supporting large multinational companies where profits often end up off shore.
Who inspires you most and why?
Our personal travel managers! We are fortunate to work in partnership with incredible individuals. I am in awe of our PTMs who travel the world working, blogging, and creating memorable moments for their clients.
What is your must-pack travel item(s)?
A little black dress, Panadol, and a jacket – Mum always tells me “Never leave home without a warm jacket!”
Who would you invite on your next holiday if you could choose anyone and where would you go?
I would take the entire travel industry out for a cold beer and glass of wine to thank them for these past two years!!
