NSW Police ordered P&O Cruises’Pacific Explorer to leave Sydney yesterday, despite parent company Carnival Australia entreating the state to allow the cruise line’s home ported flagship to remain.
Mr Myrmell expressed ‘profound disappointment’ with the decision, noting that P&O had been cruising from Australia for 88 years, supporting thousands of jobs and the economic life of the State and regional communities. He said it was unprecedented for the cruise line to be treated in this way given its Australian origins.
