Effective 1am Saturday 8 August 2020 [AEST] Queensland will introduce a hard border between NSW and ACT, effectively banning anyone from all of NSW and ACT from entering the state. In addition, Queensland is tightening exemptions to ensure that the state stays COVID-free.
The Queensland Government has implemented enhanced border control measures, including border passes and identification screening.
Any person that has been in a declared COVID-19 hotspot during the past 14 days must not enter Queensland.
All of Victoria and Greater Sydney are currently declared COVID-19 hotspots.
From 1am Saturday 8 August, all local government areas in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) will also be declared COVID-19 hotspots.
All Queenslanders wishing to return home by vehicle from NSW or the ACT are urged to do so by Friday night [7 August 2020] or risk being turned away. Queensland residents wishing to return after this date will be required to fly to Queensland from NSW or the ACT and will be required to enter mandatory 14-day hotel quarantine, at their own expense, on arrival in Queensland, and to make their own freight arrangements for any vehicles impounded at the border.
