The NSW South Coast, still reeling from the devastation wrought by summer bushfires, was looking forward to welcoming domestic travel to boost the local economy and, in particular, its tourism and hospitality sectors.
However, a new and growing Sydney COVID-19 hotspot cluster, that has impacted Tangara School for Girls in Cherrybrook and Castle Towers Shopping Centre in Castle Hill, has now been traced to two people from Sydney who holidayed at Jervis Bay on the NSW South Coast and dined at Wildginger restaurant at Huskisson on Saturday 8 August 2020.
“These two people are from outside the Local Health District and are linked with the Tangara School for Girls cluster,” said Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District Director of Public Health, Curtis Gregory.
“Patrons and staff who were at the venue at the same time as the two cases (7.45pm and 10.30pm) have been instructed to self-isolate for 14 days and to get tested for COVID-19 if directed or if they develop symptoms.”
A new infection cluster has also closed two schools in Batemans Bay on the NSW South Coast.
