Youth media company VICE, together with Visit Seattle, has launched a spirited new video feature, targeting the youth market and lovers of music history. Hosted by actor and musician Jamie Timony (Mossy, These New South Whales), Sound of Seattle celebrates a city known for its natural beauty, and worshipped for its sonic heritage.
Tom Norwalk, Visit Seattle President and CEO said, “Pike Place Market, the Space Needle and Mount Rainier are all synonymous with Seattle, but people often aren’t aware of the extraordinary music scene here that these sights inspire. Home to Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Macklemore, the global music landscape wouldn’t be the same today without the musical contributions of Seattle. Visit Seattle is pleased to partner with VICE to bring this rich history to life and we hope it inspires Aussies to explore Seattle and Washington State.”
Under the shadow of the Space Needle and nearby Mount Rainier (some of the city’s most famous landmarks), Timony meets with iconic members of the city’s creative community. Joining Mudhoney’s Mark Arm for a walk-through of Sub Pop’s vinyl-laden warehouse (Nirvana, Beach House, Flight of the Conchords), he also spends time with Shabazz Palaces, Chastity Belt, Dude York and SassyBlack, hearing their take on the city’s unique magic.
Jamie Brewer, VICE Sales Director said, “Travel content is what VICE does best, it’s part of our core DNA and what our audience loves and follows us for. That goes for music too, so being given the opportunity to partner with Visit Seattle to showcase a city so famous for its scenery, musical heritage and community was really a dream brief. In working with Visit Seattle, we think we’ve created a really strong piece of content that shows Seattle as a must-see destination for our aspirational audience.”
