The Labor Party has been re-elected in Queensland following the results of Saturday’s state election, with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk retaining the leadership role she has held since 2015.
On Friday, the Premier announced the partial re-opening of Queensland’s borders to all states and territories, with the exclusion of Victoria and 32 Local Government Areas (LGA) in Greater Sydney, effective 1:00am [AEST] Tuesday 3 November 2020.
Concerns about ongoing community transmission of COVID-19 in the state of Victoria and within the Greater Sydney region of NSW has led to the exclusion of those areas.
People travelling to Queensland from NSW, once the borders re-open, will not be permitted entry if they have been in one of the Greater Sydney LGAs in the 14 days prior to entering Queensland. Travellers to Queensland from other areas of NSW are permitted to travel to fly from Sydney but must not have stopped or visited any of the 32 Greater Sydney LGAs on their journey to Sydney airport.
