Hotel Review: Saletoga Sands Resort and Spa

Hidden among coconut trees and nestled within a secure lagoon, Saletoga Sands Resort and Spa in Samoa combines luxury and comfort for every traveller. Located just over an hour’s drive from Faleolo International Airport, on the South East Coast of Upolu, the resort is located next to some of Samoa’s best attractions.

Resort owners Gavin and Lurline, originally from New Zealand, have brought this tropical paradise to life, inspired by their passion for Samoa. The resort’s breathtaking surroundings, lush green gardens and tranquil blue waters provide the perfect setting for this stunning resort.

The Hotel

Overall the property is spacious and the rooms are thoughtfully positioned all over the resort. With a wide selection of accommodations, there is a room type for every traveller. Families can enjoy the family villas and hotel rooms, with an additional Rollaway Bed or Baby Cot allowed in the room. Couples will appreciate the more intimate villas with ocean views, and honeymooners can be spoilt in the Matai Fale with extra space, an outdoor shower and bathtub and spectacular views of the ocean.

The sun-drenched beach at the resort is sheltered for swimming and snorkelling on the reef, or you can jump in the pool surrounded by tropical lush gardens. There are kayaks and paddle boards for hire to explore the reef further or take a tour from the resort to nearby attractions like To Sua Trench or Togitogiga Waterfall.

The Rooms

The modern, elegant and spacious rooms have been designed with comfort in mind while keeping with the Samoan feel. No matter which room you choose, the views are of lush tropical gardens or out to the ocean. All of the rooms include air conditioning, TV and DVD Player, bathroom amenities and tea and coffee making facilities.

The Deluxe Family Villas are perfect for a family of up to 5 guests, with an open-plan lounge and a divided room. The pool-side villas include, Beachfront Villas, Exclusive Villas, Deluxe Villas, Deluxe Family Villa, and Matai have an indoor and a beautiful outdoor shower. These rooms are very central to the pool and restaurant.

More private than the poolside, the Bungalow Villas include, Lagoon View Family Bungalows, Lagoon View Bungalows and Hotel Rooms. For a very affordable option, the hotel rooms are located in a two-level block and some rooms have ocean views.

The one and only Matai Villa (VIP) has a 50″ TV is perfect for a honeymoon or private couple. It has an outdoor shower and stone bath.

The Dining

The Restaurant at Saletoga Sands Resort and Spa uses a blend of fresh local flavours with twists of international cuisine. With a large menu selection, there is something for everyone including those with dietary requirements. The dining area is a large, open-air space to enjoy the cool breeze. Breakfast is a buffet and is served in the restaurant. There is a bar with an outdoor seating area where you can sample the handpicked selection of international wines and local beers, or enjoy our refreshing island cocktails.
