Scooting off on a holiday to Laos has never been easier and more cost effective than with Scoot Airlines on their new flights to Luang Prabang, Laos.
Scoot flew its inaugural flight from Singapore to Luang Prabang, Laos, last month, marking the start of its three-times-weekly flights from Singapore to Luang Prabang and Vientiane.
With the addition of Laos, Scoot’s network now spans 67 destinations across 19 countries and territories, and it will be the only airline offering direct Singapore-Laos services.
These routes were transferred from sister airline SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, and will be operated with Scoot’s A320 aircraft.

You can do your online check in for a speedy bag drop at the airport between 72 hours and 1 hour before departure. Flights eligible for Web Check-in are all Scoot flights departing from Singapore, Perth, India, Seoul, Japan and Berlin. Web Check-in is available for individual or group travellers (including travel agent bookings) with point-to-point journeys (i.e.no flight connections). Alternatively, Scoot’s check-in counters at the airport open 3hrs before scheduled departure and close 60mins before scheduled departure with no exceptions. Travellers are strongly advised to arrive at the airport at least 120mins before departure so you may complete check-in procedures on time. Scoot’s check-in counters at Singapore Changi Airport are located at Row 10 – 12, Terminal 2.
Frequent Flyer: Scoot has now teamed up with KrisFlyer to make Scooting an even more rewarding experience. KrisFlyer members can use their miles to redeem Scoot travel vouchers, which can then be used to purchase flights or add-on services.
Baggage: The limitations on your baggage allowance is determined by the fare you purchase. A Fly fare does not include any checked baggage allowance, however, allows a carry-on baggage allowance limited to 2 pieces including a laptop or handbag with combined weight not exceeding 10kg. Regardless of the ticket you book, cabin baggage cannot exceed dimensions of 54cm x 38cm x 23cm (total linear dimensions cannot exceed 115cm). FlyBag and FlyBagEat fares allow 20kg of checked luggage in addition to the carry-on allowance. For travellers needing even more luggage allowance, this can be purchased at a fee.
THE SEAT
The good thing about Scoot is you get what you pay for and you only pay for what you need. There are different fare and bundle options. Buy just a seat or add anything from meals to baggage allowance, Wi-Fi access, extra legroom and more. The most common options have already been bundled together so you can order with one click and enjoy a discount rather than select the extras individually: Fly, FlyBag & FlyBagEat. Find out more about our fare bundles here. My chosen seat was the FlyBagEat. It was a short flight so I did not need the WiFi access, so why pay for it. The seat was surprisingly comfortable with enough legroom and I always choose a window seat for the views.
FOOD AND WINE
Meals can be pre-ordered at time of booking or prior to your flight and range from light snacks to full meals. If you miss out on pre-ordering there is the chance to pay for these on-board. All prices shown in the menu are in Singapore Dollars and payment can be made via cash and credit card (Visa and Mastercard) payments. Unfortunately, your debit cards and dual function cards are not accepted. Premium Selections are only available for purchase up to 72hrs before flight and if your booking is made less than 72 hours before the flight, you may be served with an alternative meal. Travellers are reminded to present your boarding pass or itinerary on board as proof of purchase. Do also be aware that consumption of outside food and beverages is not allowed on board. Click here to view the Scoot Café menu. Pre-order your meals here. I chose the light meal of croissant and some incredibly tasty chocolate with cornflakes (trust me it just worked). It really hit the spot and was nice and fresh.
ENTERTAINMENT
This flight was not too long so I just had my book to read, in-between chatting to my neighbour. The inflight magazine is an interesting read too and gives a heap of information about the destinations Scoot fly to and more. It is definitely worth flicking through the pages.
THE VERDICT
Overall the flight was pleasant and got me exactly where I needed to be, on time. The staff were friendly and happy to chat which I find always makes a big difference. I like that you pay for what you need and nothing more, makes you feel like you get value for your money.
