Fiji’s Beachcomber Island Resort to get $10m revamp

Fiji’s iconic Beachcomber Island Resort is embarking on an exciting transformation, with Vision Hotels International unveiling a $10 million renovation and expansion plan.

Recently acquired by Vision Hotels, led by Mark and Brendon Deeley, the resort is set to become a premier 4-star destination. The Deeley brothers, recognised for their success in managing 20 hospitality ventures, including Vanuatu’s Iririki Island Resort and Spa, aim to modernise the resort while preserving its authentic Fijian charm.

Major Upgrades and Expansion

The ambitious project includes a complete renovation of the resort’s existing facilities, upgrades to public areas, and the construction of 40 new bures. Once completed, Beachcomber’s capacity will grow from 50 to 90 rooms, catering to increased demand from both local and international visitors.

“We’re excited to breathe new life into Beachcomber, a destination that holds such a special place in the hearts of many travellers,” said Mark Deeley.

Key milestones in the development include:

  • 25 November 2024: A new kitchen will be completed, alongside a refreshed 4-star menu created by a newly appointed head chef.
  • 31 March 2025: Renovation of 38 rooms, along with upgrades to the bar and restaurant.
  • 30 June 2025: Renovation of the remaining 12 rooms.
  • 31 March 2026: Completion of 40 new bures, expanding the resort’s capacity to 90 rooms.

Economic and Community Impact

The FJD $10 million investment includes $4 million allocated for initial renovations and $6 million for the construction of new bures. The project is expected to generate 50 jobs during the renovation phase, with an additional 50 permanent positions once the resort is fully operational.

Vision Hotels is collaborating closely with local landowners and the Mataqali community to ensure the development delivers long-term benefits. The resort is expected to attract 9,000 guests annually, generating 32,000 room nights and bolstering Fiji’s tourism sector.

Open for Business

Beachcomber Island Resort remains open during the renovation period, welcoming guests who can enjoy its stunning location while looking forward to an elevated experience in the near future.

“We believe this project will not only elevate Beachcomber as a sought-after destination but also contribute significantly to Fiji’s tourism industry,” said Deeley.

The redevelopment of Beachcomber Island marks a vibrant new chapter for one of Fiji’s most treasured resorts, blending its rich heritage with modern luxury to create a world-class destination.
