Eclipse Travel is offering agents advice for any South America enquiries, as events have affected some travellers in recent weeks. Demonstrations in Ecuador, Chile and Bolivia have been widely reported and illustrate the need to book with a destination specialist when clients are looking at South America.
“Things in Bolivia have escalated in recent days and the President and much of the Government have stepped down. Whilst we are hopeful that this will clear up within the coming weeks, we are monitoring developments closely and contacting all of our affected clients to provide contingencies where they are needed,” said Eclipse Travel’s Matt McMillan. “Chile is improving every day with protests mainly occurring in specific areas of Santiago, Valparaiso and Vina del Mar in the late afternoon, and we have been able to maintain operations with minimal impact. There has been a general strike just announced for 12 November 2019, and we are working with our partners on the ground to manage this and minimise disruptions. The situation in Ecuador has been quite stable this month with all tourist activities back to normal and we expect this will continue, with travel to the Galapagos Islands unaffected.’
Eclipse Travel specialises in tailor made travel to South America and has destination experts standing by to offer advice on 1300 575 752 or enquiry@eclipsetravel.com.au.
Current Smartraveller advice for Bolivia is to reconsider your need to travel, while advice for Chile and Ecuador is to exercise a high degree of caution.
