Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced a further extension of Australia’s coronavirus travel ban, until 7 March 2020, to be reviewed again in the next seven days.
The travel ban affects foreign nationals who have been in mainland China. They will not be allowed to enter Australia for 14 days from the date they depart China. Australian citizens and permanent residents will be permitted entry to Australia but must self-isolate upon arrival, for a period of 14 days.
The Prime Minister said the Government’s decision to announce an extended travel ban was based on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer, and in consultation with State and Territory leaders.
DFAT’s Smartraveller ‘Do Not Travel’ advice for China remains unchanged.
