While Greater Sydney residents are currently excluded from crossing Queensland borders without entering 14 day quarantine, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced that, after meeting with her state’s Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeannette Young, yesterday morning, “… New South Wales, we will welcome you to Queensland from December 1.”
Dr Young said NSW had now met the strict 28 consecutive days of no untraced community transmissions benchmark for the Queensland border to open to all of NSW.
“We know how tough this has been on families — this is a great day, it’s exciting news and it has met the requirements that Dr Young has set,” Premier Palaszczuk said.
Victoria is on track to reach that 28 day milestone today, in which case, Premier Ms Palaszczuk said yesterday, “I have advised the Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews that if they reach that 28 days tomorrow then they too will be open on December 1.”
