Members of the Trafalgar team will certainly find themselves on Santa’s nice list this year as they took to the water in kayaks to clean up Lavender Bay in Sydney’s North Shore with Sydney By Kayak.
Utilising their two paid volunteer days that Trafalgar and its sister TTC brands offer staff globally, the team members did their part to help by collecting over 13.9kg of rubbish.
This initiative forms part of the brand’s JoinTrafalgar commitment to have a positive impact on the people and communities they visit, and protect wildlife and marine life, as well as care for the planet.
Team members were overwhelmed by the amount of large plastics and microplastics floating around on the foreshore.
For every corporate clean-up paddle Sydney by Kayak runs on the harbour, a percentage is put aside to contribute to funding a Seabin for Sydney Harbour.
Trafalgar’s Head of Marketing Vera Straubinger commented “It was devastating to see the amount of garbage and plastics in the water and washed up on the sand, in what seemed like a pristine bay from a distance. It was truly rewarding seeing the impact our small group could make in just a few hours and also affirming that there’s so much more to be done, so we urge everyone in the industry to do their part for our beautiful stretch of coastline.”
