What does your job involve?
In my job I cover everything from overseeing all operations to conceptual creativity, culinary direction, driving business and analytics, sales & marketing activities, guest issues, employee relations and coaching, and liaising with the hotel owner.
What do you enjoy most about your profession?
That no day is ever the same and I get to interact with so many different people from all walks of life.
What are the biggest challenges for you in your profession?
Environmental responsibility is a huge issue as there are many aspects that are simply beyond our control.
What do you think are the biggest challenges the industry faces?
High levels of competition and sourcing the right people to maintain consistency as the industry is rather transient.
What do you think will be the biggest game changer in the travel industry in the next 12 months’?
The implementation AI in the hospitality industry.
Who inspires you most and why?
My old colleague Serge Zaalof – RIP whom I met back in 1991 during my time in Central America. Serge was a leader for whom quality always came first. He firmly held the belief that quality would always pay for itself and be respected by the customers.
Who would you invite on your next holiday if you could choose anyone and where would you go?
Barack Obama and I would love for our destination to be a private chalet somewhere in the German Alps.
