Club Med has unveiled its first-ever Meetings and Events Sustainability Report, a comprehensive resource designed to support companies in embedding sustainable practices into their events.
With sustainable initiatives taking centre stage in its business strategy, Club Med’s report provides crucial data, trends, and expert advice to guide stakeholders across the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE) industry towards more sustainable event solutions.
Industry Survey Highlights Demand for Sustainable Events
As Club Med’s MICE sector sees accelerated growth, the company conducted a survey involving 200 key opinion leaders from diverse industries. This survey aimed to capture the shift in attitudes towards sustainability in event planning, identifying both the driving motivations and the challenges that stakeholders face in adopting sustainable practices. The report aggregates these findings to present an actionable guide that supports businesses committed to reducing their environmental impact.
Key Insights from the Sustainability Report
The Club Med Meetings and Events Sustainability Report reveals several significant insights from its survey, which include:
- High Priority on Sustainability: An overwhelming 90 per cent of respondents noted that implementing sustainable initiatives is important when planning events.
- Top Sustainable Actions: Minimising food waste and reducing single-use plastics emerged as top priorities, with 65 per cent of respondents actively opting for these measures.
- Alignment with Corporate Values: For 33 per cent of those surveyed, aligning events with corporate values and missions was the primary motivation for implementing sustainable practices.
- CSR Policy Gaps: More than 35 per cent of companies reported that they lack a clear Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy to follow in event planning, while 15 per cent were uncertain if a CSR policy existed in their organisation.
Meeting Industry Demand for Sustainable MICE Solutions
Michelle Davies, General Manager for Club Med Pacific, emphasised that the release of the sustainability report responds to the growing demand for sustainable solutions across the MICE sector.
“The MICE industry is thriving, and with our business volume in this area surging by 30% since 2019, we’re thrilled to launch the Club Med Meetings and Events Sustainability Report,” Davies stated. “Sustainability has been at the heart of the Club Med ethos for nearly 75 years, and we continue to empower local communities and minimise our environmental impact. As the industry evolves, we want to be alongside our clients, supporting them with valuable insights every step of the way.”
Davies highlighted a rising interest in “give-back” sessions—activities that allow participants to contribute positively to communities or the environment—as one of the evolving trends within MICE events.
Tailored Eco-Conscious Experiences for Corporate Events
Julie Voultepsis, Head of Meetings and Events for Club Med Pacific, reinforced Club Med’s dedication to sustainable practices, stating, “At Club Med, we are experts in delivering tailored corporate events that are both eco-conscious and socially responsible. We integrate sustainable practices at every stage, from planning through to execution, creating meaningful, environmentally responsible experiences.”
Recognition for Excellence in Sustainable Hospitality
The launch of the sustainability report follows Club Med’s recent accolade as “Most Popular Accommodation Group” at the National Travel Industry Awards, highlighting the company’s unwavering commitment to quality service and unforgettable experiences.
