Aviation conference to discuss COVID impact
The 24th Annual Air Transport Research Society [ATRS] three-day conference, hosted by the UNSW School of Aviation, launched on Friday 27 August to discuss the global impact of COVID-19 on the aircraft industry. The three-day event featured the latest research on airport efficiency, air transport economics and airline management as well as results of the ATRS airport benchmarking report outlining the productivity of the world’s airports. The conference was postponed last year due to COVID-19 and will be held online for more than 400 attendees for the first time in its history.
Head of the UNSW School of Aviation, Professor Gabriel Lodewijks, is an expert in aviation logistics and technology. “Now is the time to discuss how the industry can recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, how to address the environmental impact of aviation and to show the world how this crisis creates opportunities for the next generation in aviation,” Prof. Lodewijks says.
Gold Coast Business Excellence Award recognises year of “dive, survive and thrive” for Paradise Resort Gold Coast
Paradise Resort Gold Coast has won the Gold Coast Business Excellence Award for August 2021 – after surviving yet another lockdown. The Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards are the region’s most comprehensive and prestigious business honours and monthly winners are automatically entered into the overall Business of the Year Award to be presented at the GCBEA Gala Awards Dinner, on 20 November 2021.
Paradise Resort Gold Coast General Manager David Brook was both elated and philosophical about being awarded the Gold Coast’s Business Excellence Award. “Winning the Award in August has provided a fantastic lift for the team because the month before we went from thrive to dive in just a few weeks as lockdown and border closures turned what was going to be a really strong winter into a blizzard of cancellations,” said Mr Brook.
