UPDATE 09:30am AEST Wednesday 23 June 2021: Queensland has now closed its borders to travellers from 7 NSW LGAs. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said as of 1:00am AEST on Thursday 24 June 2021, Queensland will close its borders to Sydney, Bayside, Woollahra, Canada Bay, Inner West and Randwick council areas. Waverley LGA was already on the list. Queenslanders returning home from those LGAs will have to go into mandatory 14 days hotel quarantine.
Residents of those local government areas will not be able to enter Queensland unless they have an exemption.
*****
Many families will once again have school holiday travel plans cancelled with the news last night that Victoria is the latest state to issue a “You cannot enter” edict to non-Victorian residents who have been in NSW ‘Red Zones”, effective 01:00 AEST today.
South Australia had already announced its borders were closed to anyone who has been in the Waverley Council LGA, but from midnight last night more LGAs have been added to the list.
VICTORIA
Effective 01:00am AEST today, Victoria has declared the following NSW LGAs as RED ZONES under the state’s travel permit system.
• City of Sydney
• Waverley
• Woollahra
• Bayside
• Canada Bay
• Inner West
• Randwick
Victorian residents who have travelled within one of those red zones (other than for transit) can obtain a permit to re-enter the state but they must quarantine at home for 14 days.
If you are a non-Victorian resident and have been within a red zone (other than for transit), “you cannot enter Victoria”.
The City of Wollongong, has been designated as an ORANGE ZONE, 1.00am AEST today.
If you’ve been in an orange zone – or in a previously-designated orange zone before it became a red zone – you need an orange zone permit to enter Victoria and must isolate on arrival, get tested, and stay isolated until they get a negative result.
SOUTH AUSTRALIA
From midnight last night AEST (Tuesday 22 June 2021) South Australia has updated its restrictions on NSW visitors to include the following NSW LGAs:
• City of Sydney
• Waverley
• Woollahra
• Bayside
• Canada Bay
• Inner West
• Randwick
The restrictions apply to people who have been in any of those LGAs at any time during the past 14 days (but not before June 11, 2021) who arrive after midnight last night.
From today, all travellers from those LGAs will be subject to level 3 requirements:
1.Get a COVID-19 test on days one, five and 13. Self-quarantine until the first COVID-19 test has been undertaken (do not need to wait for the test result)
2. No entry into high-risk setting for 14 days after arrival unless clause 9 applies
3. No entry to Covid management plan events where more than 1000 are likely to attend
Essential travellers and permitted arrivals – including returning SA residents, people relocating and people escaping domestic violence – will be allowed to enter SA but will need to follow the level 3 requirements.
