Nights at the Museum are back at the Australian Museum (AM) Sydney, following the NSW Government’s announcement of the extension of the successful Culture Up Late initiative.
The AM will remain open from 5pm – 9pm through the end of June 2021. During Nights at the Museum, visitors can explore the transformed spaces and exhibitions and enjoy food and drink while being entertained by local DJs.
Free general admission includes entry to all permanent exhibitions as well as the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year exhibition (on display in Hintze Hall through Sunday 9 May 2021). In May, visitors will also be able to experience Unsettled, a First Nations truth-telling exhibition opening in the touring exhibition hall. Visitors are able to simply walk into the AM for Nights at the Museum, tickets aren’t required for this special after hours experience.
Visitors can continue to experience the following activities from 5pm to 9pm at the Australian Museum on Thursdays:
- Special pop-up bar and lounge area
- Live music featuring some of Sydney’s best DJs
- Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year exhibition (open until 9 May)
- Special Nights at the Museum programming tied to the upcoming Unsettled exhibition to be announced soon
The AM is COVID Safe and is observing strict physical distancing and hygiene measures to protect the Health of visitors and staff and minimise the spread of COVID-19. The AM is open every day, except Christmas Day. Opening hours are 10am – 5pm daily, with new extended hours from 5pm – 9pm on Thursdays. Learn more at australian.museum/event/Nights-at-the-Museum/.
