Melbourne Convention Bureau has announced a new funding initiative – the National Business Events Program – to encourage interstate organisations to hold their events in Melbourne.
A cash injection of up to $25,000 may be offered to business event organisers to support costs for hosting their event in Melbourne, including accommodation, venue hire, transport and other event costs, with 50 per cent payable before the event commences, to support upfront expenses.
With a focus on national association or corporate events, funding will be determined by the event duration and number of delegates attending the event in person, travelling to Victoria from interstate. Eligible events will include conferences, exhibitions or trade shows, workshops and seminars, as well as corporate meetings and incentive group events with a business event program.
MCB Chief Executive Officer Julia Swanson said, “We are thrilled to announce this new funding initiative to support the Victorian business events sector to regain momentum and provide a much needed helping hand to business event organisers in hosting their events in our city.
“Our aim is to not only boost demand across the sector, fill our hotels and venues and support our local supply chain, but to provide planners and key decision makers the confidence to plan and book their event in Melbourne.”
Expressions of interest for the National Business Event Program are open. For more information contact info@melbournecb.com.au.
