The Victorian State Government has approved plans for a $350m development on the state’s Surf Coast – CORA – that will become the Southern Hemisphere’s largest and only sport, health and wellness tourist destination of its kind.
Located on Cape Otway Road Australia the development will cover over 550-acres and provide an elite-level training facility alongside paddock-to-plate nutrition, leading sports science, luxury accommodation and a focus on holistic wellness all in one place.
Victoria’s Surf Coast currently receives the highest visitation of any region in Australia, however, yields comparatively low spend from its visitors. It is anticipated that CORA will change that!
- CORA is set to create over 1,000 direct jobs at the height of construction (including a commitment to at least 750 local jobs) and at least 670 ongoing full-time jobs once in operation
- 265 acres dedicated to ‘Trust for Nature’ to ensure its status as a conservation area
- The proposed development includes 4 and 5 star accommodation (128 hotel rooms, 37 eco lodges and 24 retreat homesteads)
- A key feature of the property will be its elite sports facility for the best in sports, corporate teams and visitors to enjoy, featuring; multiple playing fields, a gymnasium, yoga studio, cardio gym, VR training studio, netball, volleyball and indoor tennis courts, track and field, an Olympic-sized swimming pool as well as cycling, running and fitness tracks
- The development will house world class art galleries showcasing Indigenous and contemporary Australian and international art
- The Retail Village will feature a planned mix of food and beverage tenants including a microbrewery, selection of paddock-to-plate restaurants, a bakery and gelateria showcasing farm-fresh milk to ice-cream demonstrations
- Another key element of the landmark is its Wellness Centre located remotely from other facilities as a place to recharge offering a spa, yoga, Pilates and meditation studio as well as a beauty salon
